Judgement Day, May 21st, 2011? Could it Be the Beginning of the End?

The Mayan calendar "ends" in December of 2012. People all over the world are living in fear of the "End of Days".  Could it be that the projected phenomenon is beginning earlier than expected?

Harold Camping, a retired civil engineer and now the independent Christian ministry leader of Family Radio Worldwide, has calculated May 21st as Judgement Day, based on his interpretation of the Bible.

It might be a good time to reaffirm your faith. A loosely connected Christian movement is spreading the word all over the world on bus stop benches, billboards, cars, etc.

Blogging 101: Advertising Networks Driving Traffic To Your Blog

Blogging 101: Advertising Networks Driving Traffic To Your Blog
by Lauren Axelrod

I’m not speaking of ad networks like Chitika or Adsense, but sites providing a continuous stream of traffic based upon a widget you place throughout the network.

There are several options out there, but only a few requiring a bit of your time and sometimes a minimum investment. You have to pick advertising networks which never compromise the quality of your site and only allow higher quality sites to join. I’ve used just about every one out there and I have narrowed it down to the top three sites providing you with a steady stream of traffic.
Are you wondering what makes me an ex...

Tigers May Become Extinct in The Wild by 2022

Tigers May Become Extinct in The Wild by 2022
by Mark Gordon Brown

A warning has been issued to the world in regards to one of the most iconic animals on the earth, the Tiger.

Tigers are the largest of the big cats, however their population numbers are not so impressive. Only a century ago over 100,000 Tigers stalked the forests of Asia, today there are less than 3,200, and already three subspecies are extinct...

31 New Green Year Resolutions

Here are 31 suggestions, one for every day of the month, to help you become a greener person in the New Year, or anytime really.

  1. I will Go Green for my own sake, to save money, and for the sake of keeping the planet clean for generations to come.

  2. I will Plant a Tree, any kind of tree, perhaps a fruit tree. Maybe more than one, and a bush even. Raspberries always taste great in the summer!

  3. In the summer I will hang my clothes outside on the line to dry.

  4. I will use cheaper, and safer, cleaning products, such as replacing glass cleaner with vinegar and water, using baking soda (bicarbonate of soda) to clean the oven.

  5. I will put up a sign on my mail box “NO JUNK MAIL OR FLYERS”.

  6. If I don't need it, I will resist the urge to buy it.

  7. I will try to buy locally made products and shun those made in other countries.

  8. I will shop at my local farmers markets and try to buy locally grown produce.

  9. I will buy in bulk and try to buy lots of stuff per trip rather than making lots of shopping trips.

  10. I will put a brick in the back of my toilet so I use less water each flush.

  11. I will return all medication bottles back to the pharmacy.

  12. I will return all plant pots (from bedding plants) back to the greenhouse.

  13. I will encourage my friend, who works in a tall office building, to have the lights turned off at night, not only will this save energy, but also help with the death of hundreds if migratory birds who smash into these windows.

  14. I will use my reusable shopping bag or try to take no bag at all when purchasing some items.

  15. I won't shave on days that I don't have to.

The Electronic Cigarette - The Healthier Cigarette

By Stephen Rowley

The electronic cigarette is the latest cutting edge technology to come out of China. This simple yet effective device comprises of three components, the lithium battery, the atomizer and the cartridge.
The device works much like a real cigarette, once you draw on the butt end of the cigarette, air is drawn into the atomizer via two inlet holes on its side. The air flow triggers a switch and the battery heats up the atomizer which then vaporizes the fluid in the cartridge which is a mixture of nicotine, water, propylene glycol and some tabacco flavouring.
The smoker then inhales a nicotine and propylene glycol vapour, and a smokey coloured vapour is exhaled, giving the smoker the visual, taste and nicotine satisfaction of a real cigarette without the harmful effects of a real cigarette.

Eid Party Celebration for Children

by , Dec 17, 2008

This article gives information about Muslim Eids. And a special Eid party where my colleagues I organised for children.

Eid is celebrated around the world by Muslims. It is a day of forgiveness, each and everyone goes to one and other houses to celebrate Eid. Traditionally everyone wears new cloths and new shoes. Families prepare plenty of food. In every house there are lots of dry fruits, biscuits, tea or coffee ready to be served.

Healthy Lifestyle Part 2: Proper Nutrition for Weight Loss and Life Sustenance

Part two of this series by Michele Cameron Drew provides more in-depth information on foods, proper food combining to cleanse and nourish the body and sustain a healthy life.

Source

Welcome to part two of this series. Here you will find information on life-sustaining foods which cleanse and nourish the body. I cannot stress enough the importance of exercise. Even though the use of proper nutrition is important and can provide dramatic results, remember that exercise is key, even if we just take the time to do a few deep breathing exercises on a daily basis we may see dramatic health results. This is because the body receives the life-sustaining oxygen that it needs to cleanse the heart, the lungs, and the bloodstream.

Be aware that as you cleanse your system, by providing it with what it needs, that you may see some results that look as though you have done just the opposite, ie. colds, flu-like symptoms, skin problems, etc... This is a natural process. What's happening is the body is forcing out all of the garbage and taking on all of the good things that you are nourishing it with. You think you have "caught" a cold, when in fact you "ate" a cold, and now your body is trying to force those toxins that you ate, out of your body. This is usually a sign that what you are doing is working. As the body removes toxins these "symptoms" will begin to disappear.

As with any diet and exercise plan, you should always check with your doctor before making any serious changes.

Food Combining

Let's talk about food-combining(an important secret). If you try using these simple but extremely effective rules, you will see a big difference in the way your body digests foods. Different foods require different types of digestive juices, and not all digestive juices are compatible. In his book "Unlimited Power" the infamous Tony Robbins says "Do you eat meat and potatoes together? How about cheese and bread, or milk and cereal, or fish and rice?" "What if I were to tell you that those combinations are totally destructive to your internal system and rob you of energy?"

Well you'd probably tell him that he was out of his mind, but it's true. You can save yourself large amounts of nerve energy that you are probably wasting right now. Different types of foods are digested differently. Carbohydrates require an alkaline digestive medium, which is initially supplied in the mouth by an enzyme(ptyalin). Proteins require an acid medium(hydrochloric acid, and pepsin).

It is a law of chemistry that two contrary mediums cannot work together. Acid and alkali cannot work at the same time. They neutralize each other, which means that if you eat a protein and a carbohydrate together, digestion is impaired or stopped completely. Undigested food becomes a soil for bacteria which ferments and decomposes. This creates gas and digestive disorders. These food combinations steal your energy, and this is a potential cause for disease.

It is safe to eat vegetables(non-starch) with both proteins and carbohydrates. You can eat both proteins and carbs in the same day, but it is best to eat them at different sittings. ie. a baked potato or two or whole grain bread and a salad for lunch, and a small piece of meat for dinner with a big salad.

Meat...?

Meat...? Well let's just say that you can eat it if you want to. I eat it, although sparingly. There's nothing like the taste of a great juicy steak, right? Well, if you knew where the taste in meat comes from, you may not be eating that steak. One of the byproducts of meat is ammonia. Meat contains high levels of uric acid. Uric acid is a waste or excretory product of the body, resulting from the work of living cells. The kidneys extract uric acid from the bloodstream and pass it to the bladder where it is extracted with the urea as urine. If uric acid isn't properly removed from the blood in a prompt manner, the excess builds up in the body's tissues, which later creates gout or bladder stones, not to mention kidney disease. The average piece of meat contains 14 grains of uric acid. Your body can only effectively eliminate 8 grains of uric acid per day. The uric acid from the dead animal you are eating is what gives meat its flavor. Appetizing, huh?

Meat is also loaded with putrefactive bacteria(colon germs). When an animal is alive the osmotic process prevents these bacteria from getting into the animal. After the animal dies, this process is gone, and putrefactive bacteria storm their way into the colon of the animal and its flesh. This is what tenderizes meat. I could go on about the bacteria in meat, but I think you get the picture. Is this what you want for dinner? I certainly don't.

Healthy Lifestyle 1: You Are What You Eat, by Michele Cameron Drew

An overview of the cause and effect of an unhealthy lifestyle and what you can do to make the proper lifestyle changes to create a better world and a better you!

Spring vs. Winter

What is it that makes us go out of our way each spring to slim down, tone up, and put on fresh coat of sunshine? We all want to feel good, and be more attractive, so that we look better in those revealing summer clothes. I originally wrote this article for a spring publication, but decided that this time of the year may be even more appropriate because let's face it, this time of year is when nearly all of us put on the most weight. If we start now, during the cold months to slim down, tone up and get ready, we'll be ready for the summer long before it arrives!

Make the Time

In today's busy world, especially during the holidays, who has the time to put in a few hours of aerobics every day? Most of us don't, or are not willing to take the time, even if it is available to us. But there are many things that we can do to help get a flatter tummy, lose some of those thunder thighs, help clear up skin problems, breathe better, have more energy, and get a little sunshine, safely, and in a small amount of time, if we can just get motivated and put aside the time to do it. Proper nutrition and exercise are extremely important. We are learning more and more about foods and combining them. Herbs, minerals and vitamins can be an excellent tool for weight loss, maintenance and revitalization of energy.

Love Thyself

Loving yourself is one of the most important parts of living life. Without self-love there is no way you can truly love another, right? And the body is your temple, a great place to start. Changing is just that. Losing weight and getting in shape have to come from making lifestyle changes that need to last throughout your life.

My Story

My personal diet and exercise regimen helped me to lose over one-hundred pounds through trial and error in 1999-2000. I was at my wits end. I had tried just about every diet product and exercise plan that was known to man. Nothing worked.

Just a little over 8 years ago by the grace of God, I found a popular set of herbal products, and I lost forty-five pounds in two mos. and kept all but ten of those forty-five pounds off for well over a year. I still had another twenty-five pounds to lose in order to reach my goal. I had plateaued. I became discouraged and gave up for awhile.

The end weight is the hardest to take off, but I knew that I would eventually do it. About 15 mos into my plan I got my mindset straight again and I began getting more into diet and exercise. With the help of herbal and nutritional supplements, I was able to take off the ten pounds that I had gained back, plus an additional fifteen pounds in ten weeks. In just five more weeks, I was back to my goal weight(where I was ten years earlier), and in better shape than I had ever been in my entire life. Over the years I have occasionally gained weight again, especially over the winter months but I was able to lose it again fairly quickly by using the same methods as in the past. I've kept most of it off for over 8 years!

These are excellent results that come from empowerment, discipline and a little hard work. Different people may achieve different results, but your own realistic goals are truly achievable, if you can simply commit yourself to attaining them. This may sound difficult, but it's really not that hard. Empowering yourself to do what you need to do to maintain your health is the greatest gift you can give yourself, and those that love you.

Most Dangerous Items in the Ocean, by BC Doan

Can you believe eight million tons of garbage reaches the bottom of the sea everyday?

While we, human, look for more ways to make our lives easier, and consume what convenient for us, our planet is enduring the punishment. Every day, eight million tons of garbage reaches the sea around the globe. These rubbishes are all non-recyclable, and they are all from human activity!

Have you wonder where our garbage will end up? Where does the item we put in the toilette, and flush down go? The answer is obvious; they often end up in the ocean and on beaches.

These include all kind of plastic items such as shopping bags, plastic bottles, condoms, and plastic food wrappers. Below is closer look at how long it would take for each of these items to biodegrade.

  • The average life span of plastic demijohn is from 400 to 600 hundred years.

  • The average life span of plastic bottle is from 300 to 500 hundred years.

  • The plastic bags have a life span of 30 to 60 years.

  • The plastic rings, which hold pop cans together, have a life span of 450 years.

  • The food wrappers have a life span from 20 to 30 years.

  • Condoms have the life span of 30 years.

Pieces of plastic, such as the rings around pop bottles, and milk bottles, have the life span of hundreds of years, depending on the quality.

The Mystery of Intimacy (It's Not ALL About Sex)

An in-depth look at what intimacy is and how to develop more of it in your relationship.

by Michele Cameron Drew

For centuries artists, writers, musicians, and poets have all tried to create the ultimate picture of intimacy to no avail. It's mystery lies within the human heart and spirit, the connection between the two individuals, the experiences they share, and how they interpret them to each other. Falling in love is easy, achieving true intimacy and staying in love is the difficult part.

The term intimacy comes from the Latin word initmus, which means the most private, most personal of all relationships. It refers to a special closeness between two people who know each other well, understand each others' needs and have made a commitment to continuously care for each other on the deepest and most personal levels.

How Webster defines intimate:

intimate (in'.ta.mat) a. innermost; familiar; closely-related; close; n. an intimate friend; intimacy n. the state of being intimate; sexual relations.

Image Souce

At the center of everyone's need to be loved is the need to be loved for who and what we really are. Your unique qualities, especially the ones that vary from your partner, and what they bring to your relationship, are most important of all.

First love thyself. If you don't love the person that you are, it is not possible to truly love another. Never put yourself or your lover first. Selfishness or self-sacrifice will get you nowhere.

Many people tend to be constantly looking for the perfect person rather than learning to live and love those right here in the real world. Fantasies are nice, but real love is at the heart of the matter. That perfect person will probably only exist in the mind of the person who contrives them in a fantasy. Rejecting the differences between fantasy and reality breaks the possibility of intimate connection with another, because you subconsciously love the fantasy and break away from the reality.
